Taking the Challenge...

So it's Wednesday morning, and I feel a little lighter than yesterday. I am blessed with a husband who has the best ears in the business when I have things weighing on my mind... And I had a deal to unload for a Tuesday!

But following on from that, I have once again taken up the Chopra Centre's 21day Meditation Challenge. The last one I participated in was great, but it's so nice to re-invigorate my mind and my meditating practice with new energy.

So today was about health conscious and the things - both physical, mental and emotional that we think we own... Wow, when you sit and list the things you think you own it's amazing what you would rather not own!! I get the material items, but I really need to work on the emotional ownership... So at each stage in my present awareness of today I am going to notice the things I own and make some changes.

What do you own that you would rather not?

Have a super present day :)

It's..... Monday!

Well after a simply fantastic weekend, it's time again to hit the ground running...

After the kiddies drop off's at school I headed out for a hard push bike ride, came home sweating, thinking it was only second best to a good workout in bed (can I really say that)!!! A quick sprinkle under the hose in the backyard, a yummy cup of coffee, and we are off and racing...

What about you, how do you like to kick start the week?

colours, colours everywhere...

There is no denying - I have an absolute love of colours; the feelings they evoke; the way every colour can look different on each individual; the use of colours in interiors to make warmth, to expand a space or to promote an energy.

Each colour has an emotion, it might bring back memories, places you've been, people that wear a certain colour...

In creating handbags, every piece of fabric and it's colour tells a story, and this story usually dictates the style of bag, the size of the bag and perhaps even it's use.

The picture noted is a collage of the latest bags...

What appeals to you? In these bags there is fushia, oranges & browns, greens and blues...

The blues may remind you of the sea, calmness, freedom or it might be cold, or cleanliness...
Green shades might take you to grasses blowing in the wind on a hill, health, nature, eco...
Orange (and we love orange at ella & jaks) can evoke cheerfulness, brightness, energy...
Fushia and the many ranges of pinks may make you feel more feminine, more girly, more in touch with yourself...

It's great to use colour to change the way you feel, or the way you would like people to view you, to lift spirits...

What colour are you wearing today... is it working for you :)

Cheers and colour your day...

change is in the air...

Life works in mysterious ways, and so I have recently found myself in some sort of creative hiatus... an internal holiday from my own expectations, my self-doubt and my lack of direction.

I have been looking, listening, experiencing and contemplating. From this I have initiated changes in my daily routines, the approach to my health, my ability to be a mother, and the way I relate and respond to others.

Now this may all sound a little way out, a little too spiritual for some (and that's so okay) but it's been a wonderful privilege to simply stop.

I am excited by where I am going now, calm and confident in my approach, and eager to be me.

I am now in the midst of working on a range of totes, created with the plethora of gorgeous upholstery fabrics I have in my stash, along with a handbag range. I look forward to sharing these with you soon.

And for anyone who is wanting to change direction, looking for balance or just ready to experience something else, please follow my link to the Chopra Center's 21 day meditation challenge - it is in full swing, but very much worth joining in :)

Namaste

I'm back...

My goodness me, the creative process takes me in so many different directions :0 but it's all good.

So as you find me starting off my blog once again, I want to share with you my most favourite shop.

http://www.anthropologie.com/

I love all the things they do, love their homewares, their boots, the whole lot. So if you haven't come across this before, please take a peek...
Oh, and at the end of July we lost our beloved Bentley cat, pik attached and so we start a new adventure with a new sort of pet (until we are ready to do the cat thing again!), we await the arrival...

And I will be back shortly...

Take care

Tunes whilst I tinker...

There is nothing better than having some music playing so that you can tap your feet and sing along whilst creating!

And so I wanted to share with you a beautiful voice that I have come across... her name is Rachael Brady and she is currently based in the gorgeous blue mountains, which must be part of her inspiration!

I have included links to her myspace page and also to where you can listen to some of her tracks on Triple J's unearthed page (where the best new aussie music comes from :)!)

My favourite songs are 'Gratitude', '26' and 'Heaven Under Y'Feet'...
Check her out if you get a chance... good to support our aussie artists!

Cheers
